Cancel the long-awaited and -planned conference or go digital? Like so many, our client was suddenly faced with this very question in the spring of 2020. "Virtual!" we said, and turned the meeting into a surefire online event.
Our customer has brought together more than 10,000 leading representatives of its industry at this annual trade conference for years. For a virtual version, it was imperative that everyone could dial in simultaneously and experience a smooth streaming experience - even with twice the number of attendees.
After exploring our options, we opted for a cloud-based web application with integration into the existing website as a user-friendly and lean model. We chose - in consultation with our customer and their preferences - a self-stabilizing, reliably scalable system with Kubernetes containers, set up on multiple virtual machines.
From registration to sharing with others, attendees experience a smooth conference with clear, easy navigation throughout the event. All offerings, including streaming of presentations and retrieval of additional information, run directly through our client's familiar website. By flexibly scaling according to registration volume, we achieve cost-attractive benefits without compromising infrastructure reliability in the slightest.
